on the lengths of opening credits

Here are the lengths of the opening credits for a handful of TV series.
curb - 8 seconds
breaking bad - 18 seconds
suits - 30 seconds
downtown abbey - 31 seconds
walking dead - 35 seconds
mad men - 35 seconds
homeland - 1:21
game of thrones - 1:30
true blood - 1:30
the wire - 1:35
boardwalk empire - 1:35
house of cards - 1:35
sopranos - 1:38
dexter - 1:40
* seems the going rate is 20-40 second intro themes for cable tv, and ~1min30secs for sho/hbo.

* i.e. it's not tv, it's tv with long intros.

* on hbo/sho, ~3% of the run time is eaten by the credits; while on cable, where time = foregone ads = foregone money, it's closer to 1%.

* i like to think that larry david is so bothered by opening credits that he demanded curbs' be sub-10 seconds.
