AOL's acquisition of HuffPo as a win for liberal media

So AOL bought huffpo for $315 million big ones huh. Big news, but setting aside whether it will fix AOL's limp, the acquisition is a big win for liberal media.

As part of the deal, Arianna Huffington becomes President and Editor-in-Chief of AOL's umbrella of content, titled to oversee the likes of Techcrunch, Patch, Engadget, Moviefone, and Mapquest - a list of big names which'll only grow as AOL furthers its Content with a capital C strategy.

This is like if MTV had made Tupac the host and producer of T.R.L. in the heat of the East Coast v. West Coast rivalry.Arianna is as politically passionate as they make 'em. And she's now in charge of holding this expansive and highly influential umbrella.

Like Tupac at the helm of TRL, this acquisition builds Arianna a sizable soapbox, from which she will be able to rain her gospel - or if we're talking about the Entertainment section, her gossipel.

Don't get me wrong: I'm all for a liberally-biased media; I prefer my news to lean further to the left than Michael Jackson in his Smooth Criminal music vid. So I'm down. But it'll be interesting to see how Arianna's ideology trickles down.
